Kuany Kiir Kuany, Programme Specialist, Education Sector, UNESCO HQ
Kuany is a global citizen from South Sudan. He is currently a Programme Specialist in the Section of Global Citizenship and Peace Education, UNESCO Headquarters, where he co-leads initiatives on education and/for peace, including hate speech, digital citizenship. Before Paris, Kuany was a Programme Manager, Education for Peace, UNESCO Iraq Office, which he had joined after a long stay at the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP), in New Delhi, India. He also co-curated the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC) Young Peacebuilders Programme for 2 years. Kuany holds an MBA, an MSC in Education, and postgraduate certificates in education, public policy, and peace and conflict. He sometimes writes fiction and has been a guest faculty on youth, education and/for peace at multiple universities around the world.
