Hal Klepak is Professor Emeritus of History and Strategy at the Royal Military College of Canada and Visiting Professor at the University of Holguin in Cuba. His BA (Hons) in International Relations was followed by an MA and PhD in International History from University College London. He is a current member of the Board of the University for Peace, a United Nations entity, and was previously its President.
Professor Klepak has taught at several universities, including Queen's University, Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean, Université de Montréal, University College London, and the University of Oxford. He was also, for long, the Special Adviser to the Canadian Minister of Defence for Latin America and held a joint post in that role for the Commander of the Canadian Army.
Klepak was for 16 years an infantry officer in The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada. He has published widely on strategic and historical issues related to peacekeeping, arms control, and defence.
He has taught courses in a wide range of fields, including strategic studies and the history of colonialism, international relations, peacekeeping, terrorism, and arms control.
